Setting a foundation of gratitude

Research has shown that happiness enhances high performance in a myriad of ways.
There are a lot of ways to be happy; but in my experience the foundation blocks have to be built from feeling grateful everyday.
To some it might sound twee, soft and even indulgent to spend time focusing on the good stuff when there are so many more 'important' jobs to do, but again and again scientists have proved that our performance and happiness is boosted when we do so.
?? Start a Daily Gratitude Habit ??
The easiest way to make gratitude a habit is by cultivating a daily practice. Here are some ideas:
?? Start a gratitude journal. This can be as simple as jotting down three things that you are grateful for each day, or can be more elaborate and include photos, decorations and descriptions of what you are thankful for in your life.
?? If you are not the journal writing type, you can create a habit of being grateful when you brush your teeth, or when you get into bed and review the day.
?? Download a gratitude app onto your phone, and update it daily or weekly.
?? Setting an hourly or daily alarm on your phone also works. When it goes off, take a deep breathe and notice what you especially appreciate in the next minute.
Decide and plan now when you are going to buy that journal, download an app, or set the alarm on your phone to get ready for gratitude.
