Set your Own house in Order - A thought

In the wake of Monday's fire At Notre Dame Cathedral I have seen, heard and witnessed peoples grief, laments, call for prayers for this very tragic event. My heart goes out to the People of Paris and indeed my dear Friend who lives there.
People & Businesses from around the world have rallied and raised an astonishing amount of money to aid the fund to rebuild this iconic and historic structure and religious Centre- It shall probably be even higher by the time I post this so I shall not quote figures I do not know to be fact.
However, I have also seen outcry & scold from many criticizing the focus of this huge generation of funds. "These funds should be used elsewhere". "These funds should be available for more pressing issues" "Why for an inanimate object such as a building does the world stop and for humanitarian aid or relief projects the funds are not even a fraction of this?"
It is indeed an intriguing question! Why are people more eager to help this than homelessness or aid relief in a warn torn part of the world? To this I do not have an eloquent or fact based response. I have my opinions on the matter but that shall be for another post
The thought that intrigues me at this current time is the immediate outcry and criticism that this positive response to a tragedy has incurred. Where is the Self analysis?, Where is the self awareness? and where is the responsibility of being the difference you want to see?
A case: Britain and France combined waste approx €30 billion euro of household food a year ( that is edible food that someone could eat - just to be clear) . The average £470 (€540) was wasted per household per year in the Uk.
Should there be an outcry by the masses? Should each of these households hold their thoughts and criticisms of where they focus their funds and what the contribute to? How man of us actively contribute to bettering the World or others. How many bring our waste food ( to directly address the case mentioned) to food banks to feed the less fortunate? or How many of us contribute even half of our yearly food waste amount ( approx €270) to charitable or relief efforts
Perhaps we should look at ourselves and where we focus our energies & funds before criticizing. Perhaps we should get our own priorities & house in order and start being the change we want to see
Just a thought!
