I had to change the newsletter I planned for this week after hearing the most kickass response by VP Harris on the?Call Her Daddy?podcast. I have written about over-apologizing and how and when to apologize. You can see those articles here:?

How To Apologize And When You Shouldn’t

Do you say ‘sorry’ too often? Do this instead…?

Alex Cooper, host of the podcast, asked Kamala Harris about Sara Huckabee Sanders’ comment, “…my kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn't have anything keeping her humble." ?

?

I literally clapped out loud and whooped at her response. Harris didn’t buy into the premise. She didn’t defend or explain. She simply said, "There are a lot of women out here who are not aspiring to be humble." YES!?

She also said, "I don’t think she” (Sanders) “understands there are a lot of women out here who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life, and children in their life, and I think it's really important for women to lift each other up." YES, YES, YES!?

This is a leader’s mindset. This is a?Connected Leader’s?mindset.?

  • A Connected Leader prioritizes relationships in everything they do. They care about you and the things you care about.
  • A Connected Leader understands the power of connection and is a leader that people want to follow.
  • A Connected Leader is open, vulnerable, transparent, and kind. They are trusted and trusting.
  • A Connected Leader thinks holistically vs. transactionally. They listen, coach, support, and empower.
  • A Connected Leader leverages their network to exponentially advance results for themselves and others.??

Kamala’s response exemplified the philosophy of people first and I had to highlight it. Don’t buy into other people’s definition of what is right or good. Define that for yourself.?
