Set Your Goals

I’ll never forget the first time I ventured into sales, several decades ago.?My goal was to sell 50 t-shirts for a profit of about $200 — which would allow me to buy food for a month.

When you set goals and write them down, you become more realistic about how to reach them. Who do you need to talk to in order to achieve this goal? What will you do to make sure this goal is achieved?

What I’ve discovered in my own journey and while working with hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs globally, whether in startup or small business mode, is that each time we write down a goal, something about visualizing it allows us to feel it and go for it.

Setting clear goals makes it easier for everyone to move towards achievement. When you simplify the message, it becomes easier to break it down into basic steps that can be set daily, weekly, or monthly.

What does achieving this goal mean on an hourly or daily basis? Is this goal attainable, or unrealistic for me at this moment?

Determine the resources you need to make it happen, and leverage what you have to achieve that goal.

From my perspective, as long as you believe in yourself and your goal, as long as you are in the right place and time, with the right people to make it work, achievement is possible.

As we continue to support amazing entrepreneurs doing the work they like to do, I encourage you to encourage them to define their goals and hold them in a place they can see and visualize throughout the day.

BEFORE YOU GO

We see our blogs as opportunities for dialogue. Please share your thoughts as comments.

  1. What goals do you have for the month, the quarter, or the year? Can you break those goals into smaller goals — hourly, daily, weekly?
  2. What support system do you have in place to ensure you reach your goals?
  3. What other tools or tricks have you used to achieve your goals?
