It's All About HOW You Say It!

I've been noticing over the last couple of weeks as I am out and about delivering talks, recording books and working with clients on their keynotes; the words, the information is all there, what really changes the delivery is the

TONE OF VOICE

Sending your listener inflective clues takes a moment from bland list of events to a cascade of excitement or a crescendo of panic.

The reason my clients (and I) get that reaction is we build to the jaw dropping moment and pitch it then pause for the reaction which has space to happen.

There is an expectation of response created.

Tone of voice also clues the audience up as to the emotional meaning and invites them to feel and express.?

The cadence with which you 'land the plane' at the end lets them know it's finished and gives them the clue to applaud.?

HERE'S A TIP: Play with Inflection and Pace

I’ve spoken about the effects of rising tone and falling tone in these tips before.

One creates panic and excitement.

The other creates security and finality.

Now layer this with a play with tone.

Take a flexible phrase such as 'Really' or 'What' and say it with different tones of voice creating different meaning:

say it as if accusing, surprised, curious, delighted, etc.
