Set SMART Goals and Win

Have you ever set a goal and forgotten about it a week later?

Let's change that!?

Here's how to make goals that stick with the SMART method.

It's not just a buzzword; it's a way to ensure you know what to do and when.

What does SMART stand for?

S is for Specific - You know what you want to achieve. "I want to feel better by improving my diet" is too vague. Instead, say, "I want to incorporate more whole foods into my meals to increase my energy levels and improve my digestion for 30 days."

M is for Measurable - How will you know you've reached your goal? Measure with tools. For example- track whole food-based? meals on phone, noting energy levels and how my stomach feels.

A is for Achievable - Be realistic. Setting a goal to fly to the moon on homemade wings doesn't work. "Have one whole food meal every day to replace a processed one" is possible.

R is for Relevant - Your goal should matter to you and fit with other things you're doing. If your goal is to eat 3 vegetables a day, but your heart isn’t in it, it might be time to rethink.

T is for Time-bound - Deadlines are your friends. "eat more whole foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grains to feel more energetic and improve digestion for 30 days" is a goal with a ticking clock.

Why Does This Work?

  • It's Clear - You know just what to do.
  • You Can Track It - Watching your progress is motivating.
  • It's Real - No pie-in-the-sky goals here.
  • It Matters To You - It's something you care about.
  • The Clock is Ticking - A deadline pushes you forward.

Where Did SMART Goals Come From?

The idea of SMART goals started in the 1980s. George T. Doran wrote about it first.

He used the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Assignable, Realistic, and Time-related) acronym to help businesses set better goals.

His approach made it easier for companies to know what they wanted to achieve and how to do it.

Now, the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound) goals abbreviation is a way to remember the five key elements of a great goal.?

When you're setting SMART goals and actually achieving them, success becomes a habit! #SMARTGoals #Achievement #Success
