In Session: From Profile to Profit

Community MeetUp on boosting your LinkedIn profile, generate leads, and land training projects.

If you are a trainer, facilitator or coach struggling to understand where to begin LinkedIn from, read on :)

We had the pleasure to speak with Sherin Mathew - LxD Practitioner , an enterprising personality and LnD Practitioner. Having found her roots and comfort in the learning and development industry, she's an IIM Calcutta alumni and comes with diverse experience and knowledge.?

She talked us through the context of LinkedIn and one key thing to leverage to generate and convert leads.

Context Setting for LinkedIn

Sherin mentioned that having a goal, a context behind starting to post on LinkedIn is a must - Prioritise what you're looking for.

  • Increasing Followers: Eye-catching content, myth busters, well designed posts should be in your calendar, if this is your goal. A high follower count gives a credibility and status, but takes a combination of time, effort and money
  • Increasing Leads: Content that focuses on solving problems for your target audience and how you fit in the solution, is what you're looking for. Follower count doesn't matter. Authentically connecting with your followers does.

What's your context?

Pro Tip: Utilise all Functions and Features of LinkedIn

All the old ones and new. Every social network pushes out new features and early adopters always have the advantage of higher organic reach. (remember the reels boom?)

  1. Profile Photo: (Heard this A LOT of times? because it is that important!) Sherin highlighted the importance of having a professional, approachable profile photo. Incase you wish to analyse and rate your profile photo: https://www.snappr.com/photo-analyzer/
  2. Cover Image: Use it to highlight what you do - with client logos, talk about your brand, business books and services. Be consistent with your colors and logos.
  3. Featured Posts: A profile can have pinned posts. That's an excellent place to pin your trainer profiles, for easy access to people going through your profile.
  4. Projects, Skills, Services and Certifications: Provide in depth details. Each section adds more credibility to the profile you're building. Use them.

What other feature of LinkedIn would you recommend we use, to boost our profiles?

One quote by Sherin the community absolutely resonated with...

Be creative with LinkedIn! We are in an industry where it is allowed to be free to be creative. And use that freedom. Don't go by the bylaws of corporate industry because it does not apply to us a hundred percent.

So if you've read this far, we have a request:

Drop us a comment with your best practices for generating leads on LinkedIn :)
