Session 42 : Ultra High Performance Concrete | Dr. Satish Jain

Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is a cementitious composite material composed of an optimized gradation of granular constituents, with an ultra-low water-cement content, and a high percentage of discontinuous internal fiber reinforcement. UHPC is densely packed using micro and sometime nano size material ingredients, which imparts UHPC its two signature properties – ultra-high mechanical and ultra-high durability. The result is structural sections that are over 50 percent lighter than concrete sections, negligible reinforcement, and a service life that is devoid of any structural maintenance or repair.

The material finds applications ranging from bridge and building structural elements to protective overlays on bridge decks, industrial slabs, building facades, mechanical device bedding and foundations, interior panels, tiles, outdoor furniture, and blast resistant structures amongst others.

When we think GREEN and SUSTAINABILITY, UHPC stands out above and beyond its peers – both concrete and steel. UHPC has positioned itself strategically between?Concrete and Structural Steel and has the ability to not only be used independently but also a a composite with both these materials.

Experience: 22 Years (2000 to 2009 – USA, 2009 to Present – India)

Licensed Structural Engineer both in the USA and India. Apart from UHPC India Pvt. Ltd, he also leads Satish Jain Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd. Designed challenging structures across both India and the USA.

Ph.D in Structural Engineering in UHPC, Iowa State University, USA

M.S in Structural Engineering, Iowa State University, USA

B.Tech in Civil Engineering, NIT (REC) Calicut, India
