Session 2: Uncovering who we are as coaches.

Unfortunately, I could not attend the live second session, but I am grateful that everything was recorded and accessible. BMC's flexibility is commendable in such situations.

In this session, my biggest realisation was when we delved into the discussion about who we are as coaches and the significance of Authority, Presence, and Impact. This demands self-reflection and self-awareness, which are areas I seldom pay attention to. It necessitates examining one's past, present, and future.

The API (Authority, Presence, Impact) model, originating from the works of Professor Peter Hawkins and Nick Smith, is essential for coaches to cultivate these three core leadership qualities. Developing Authority, Presence, and Impact can help in building confidence, trust, and influence in coaching practices.


This model is applicable to any professional looking to differentiate themselves and make a greater impact in their field. It applies not only to coaching but also to various aspects of one's professional life.

Sameera Ali Baba-MCC, SP, EIA, ESIA/EMCC generously shared her personal and inspiring journey towards success in coaching. We were also tasked with creating our own 'Signature Presence' using the API model.

Although the assignment was due after the 10 online sessions, I'll skip ahead to share my Signature Presence. Crafting this was thought-provoking and somewhat challenging, but I am pleased with the result.


Through my realisation, I have come to understand that making a real impact in coaching necessitates a commitment to continuous learning. Team Coaching presents unique challenges that differ from individual coaching, but I am confident that with the guidance and assistance of the thriving CoachMe community led by BECKETT MCINROY Consultancy (BMC) 'enabling potential...' CoachME , I will be able to attain the necessary skills and knowledge to obtain the Professional Certificate in Executive Team and Board Coaching.
