Serving Those Who Served – Extending a helping hand to veterans in need

Until yesterday I never heard of Ben Challinor from Adelaide. But right now I’m glad that people like him exist. What’s exceptional about this gentleman is that he is stepping forward to do what governments should be doing better: helping veterans to adapt to the challenges of civilian life (see the full story: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-02/shelter-opens-in-north-adelaide-for-homeless-veterans/6992718). Moreover, what Ben’s story tells me is that altruism and desire to serve others in need is not dead, and that somehow fills me with optimism for the future of our society.
But I guess the question for all of us is: when was the last time we acted in an altruistic way? I really wish there were more Bens out there.
If you do know any veterans who require assistance in Australia, please email Ben ([email protected])
