Serving Those Who Serve

The U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and subsequent recent events in the region, have not only grabbed global attention, but have also stirred deep emotions for many of us here at home. We remain hopeful that all U.S. citizens and the Afghan people remain safe during this tumultuous time.?

Last year, more than 25 percent of our CVS Health new hires reported they were veterans, military spouses, or related to a U.S. military service member or veteran. As a result, we know that these events may be impacting many of our colleagues in different ways. We want to share some perspective and foster understanding during this difficult time.

?Former or active duty National Guard and Reserves

?As the events unfold in Afghanistan, members of the military and veteran community are dealing with complex emotions. They may be struggling to define these feelings, which may include anger, depression, frustration, and even a sense of loss.?

Message from retired Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills

We know this may be a difficult time for you. If you have any questions or need support, please leverage many of the resources available to support the military community:

Active duty and veteran family members, and caregivers

This time can be stressful for military spouses and family members as well. You’ve made sacrifices and endured unique challenges in support of military service. Employee Assistance Program services are available for CVS Health colleagues to talk through related stresses and feelings.?If you are a caregiver, the?Elizabeth Dole Foundation?would like your help with?this survey.

Showing support

Each member of the military community will have their own way of dealing with these recent events. Some may wish to talk about it, while others may not. Please respect their desires, and be conscious that comments, or conversations about the events in Afghanistan, may impact people you might not be aware are connected to the military community.?

During this difficult time, please know that veterans are resilient, and while some may need time to deal with the emotions caused by these events, others are here to support you. Semper Fidelis.?
