Serving with Passion: Finding Purpose in Your God-Given Gifts

Serving with Passion: Finding Purpose in Your God-Given Gifts

Passion is energy. It’s the force behind every great accomplishment in life. If we’re honest with ourselves, nothing extraordinary has ever been achieved without passion. The question I’m compelled to ask is: What are you passionate about? And more importantly, are you serving your dreams with that same energy?

In church this week, I was reminded of how passion is essential, not only in our personal ambitions but also in our walk with God. The Bible calls us to love the Lord with all our heart and passion. We are encouraged to work hard and serve enthusiastically, not for worldly recognition, but because we are fully loaded with gifts and abilities designed to fulfill God's purpose for our lives.

Unwrapping Your Spiritual Gifts

One of the most beautiful revelations is that our gifts are not earned or chosen—they are divinely given. God equips us with spiritual gifts, not for our own benefit but to serve others. These abilities aren’t “off the rack”; they are custom-made for us, stamped with God's unique imprint on our lives. If you’ve ever wondered if you're enough or if you have what it takes, know this: God gave you exactly what you need.

I can’t help but think of young, gifted, and talented individuals who walk around unaware of the precious gifts God has placed in them. The truth is, God's anointing is your gift. It's the calling on your life to fulfill His purpose. But like any good treasure, you need to explore it—search for it by talking to God and those who will tell you the truth about yourself. Experiment. Step off the bench and say, "Coach, put me in the game!" Fulfillment in life comes when you find your purpose, and when you do, it will ignite your passion.

Finding Joy in Your Purpose

One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned is that we should chase meaning, not money. While a job can provide financial stability, it’s joy that brings true fulfillment. If you're living in alignment with your purpose, the work won’t feel like work. You’ll be energized, enthusiastic, and confident—not cocky, but sure in what God has equipped you to do.

To succeed, surround yourself with a community of people who complement your strengths. No one does everything well, but each of us does something well. When we stay connected and work in community, we not only serve God better, but we also live in harmony with our gifts.

Know What You’re Anointed to Do

You know you are anointed for a particular purpose when certain things stir your spirit, or maybe even annoy you. What burdens you is often a clue to what you are called to change. It’s time to get serious about what comes naturally to you. Build up your faith to handle life's challenges—every fight is a faith fight. And like a well-trained athlete, take time to develop your God-given talent.

As Shirley Chisholm famously said, "If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." God has equipped each of us with the tools and gifts we need to create our own opportunities. Don’t wait for permission to use your gifts.

When you find your purpose, it will change everything. You'll know joy, fulfillment, and passion like never before. So, ask yourself today: Am I serving my dreams with passion? If not, it’s time to step up and step into the game. God’s already given you what you need.
