Service Versus Experience

What is the difference?
A service is an act of helpful activity, help, or aid. It is providing or a provider of accommodation and activities required by the public, as maintenance, and repair. Experience is the process or fact of personally observing, encountering, or undergoing something. One is happening for you, and the other is happening with you. One is designed for everyone, and the other is designed with you in mind. Which is better?
Business Application
We love services and being pampered, don’t we? People will pay higher prices for quality and service. I don’t know about you, but I will drive out of my way to a place that I know the quality and service is better.
Ask yourself, since people go out of their way for services, what would they do for an experience?
Services are great, and we want them, but they are common. What isn’t common is an experience. It is why customers wait in line, in the cold, to get the new iPhone product. There are so many amusement parks that will never gross half of what Disney does. It is the same reason why Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays but still generates more revenue per restaurant than any other fast-food chain in the US.
How can customer experience work for your business?
As a company, your customer is your employee. They are the people who attend to the end-users of your products or services. Your number one priority must be your employees so your employees can be client-driven.
Aside from their health benefits, provide employees plenty of services to make them stay with the company like events, perks, food, and conveniences. However, this is how many companies show employee appreciation, making it everyday customer service.
You want to attract and retain the best talent to help the company’s mission. Therefore, you must upgrade your employee’s experience. You must make work a place they can’t wait to experience every day. You must be the company, unlike no other. Therefore, they will be loyal to your company’s vision.
Since the average American spends 1/3 of their life at work and 90,000 hours at work over their lifetime, don’t you think it should be a passionate learning experience?
Your company is the soil and can harvest higher profits by creating an employee experience. Investing in your employees is always your company’s best investment.
