Woman, find your spirit food.

Woman, find your spirit food.

I spent yesterday (IWD) serving a few audiences and have just slowed down to reflect on what this all meant. One of my sessions was with the Mommy and Me Foundation which is doing such profound work with our teenage girls, some of them mothers.

I was invited to be a keynote speaker as part of a development workshop for teens in the parish. It is not strange to experience a feeling of "plateau" where you get used to doing something - in my example training and coaching youth - and as a result your level of joy while doing it decreases because it is now a bit more formal, frequent and emotionally charged. Scientists call it #HedonicAdaptation.

To guard against that I spend time reflecting; truly appreciating the role I am able to play in elevating the feelings of self-worth, clarifying purpose and passion and renewing zest in even ONE person's life.

Camelia Carter and her team gave me an opportunity to do that and I am so happy I followed intuition and accepted her invitation.

Sebrina Palmer it was such a pleasure to see you in action and feel your authenticity yesterday. I am eager for many more days like these! Days where I fill my happy tank by feeding someone else's spirit.

The Chinese have said it more jocundly:

If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a month, get married. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help others.
