Service Sector Activity Continued To Increase In August, According To Latest AIB PMI Survey Data

According to the?AIB Purchasing Managers' Index?(PMI) survey data for August 2022, service sector activity in Ireland continued to increase in August, however, the rate of growth slowed for the fourth time in five months as new business inflows continued to lose momentum, and the 12 month outlook also moderated, reflecting high inflation and potential recession concerns, but, more positively, the rates of inflation in both input and output prices hit six month lows and employment continued to expand at a solid pace.

Consumer spending during the month of August rose by 0.8% despite there being 55,000 fewer transactions, indicating that inflation is influencing Irish purchasing decisions, according to the AIB Spend Trend for August.

A new report released by sustainability and compliance specialist Bureau Veritas has found that hostels are approximately three quarters less carbon intense (tCO?e) than hotels - according to independent research and carbon footprinting data modelling conducted across a selection of European hotels and hostels.

The Maldron Hotel Oranmore in Co. Galway has been placed on the market for sale as an investment for €13 million. The sale is being handled by property advisor Savills Ireland.

Aparthotel operator Staycity Group has opened its seventh property in Dublin, giving it nearly 1,200 apartments in its home city. At the same time the company has announced a five-year £30 million loan facility from OakNorth Bank, the UK bank powered by OakNorth, and further facilities if required.

More than four in 10 Irish adults plan fewer visits to pubs for the remainder of 2022, due to cost of living pressures, new research shows.
