a service machine

…designed to “adapt” to the evolving expectations of the market served
To illustrate this article, on how system science was used to design the ht8 system of services (which are in fact a “service machine”), I used the front cover of the book titled “Designing Service Machines: Translating Principles of System Science to Service Design” by Ram Babu Roy and others, a paperback edition of which one can buy for $52.18, through Amazon (? https://www.amazon.com/Designing-Service-Machines-Translating-Translational/dp/9811309167? ).

The message being passed along through this article is that the 8 health-related services included under the ht8 “umbrella”, constitute a comprehensive “system of services” – and that the system of services is in fact a “service machine”.
The services are supplementary and complementary – i.e. each adding to the others.
See:? https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/deal-fragmentation-which-plagued-health-tourism-konstantinos-ytbnf/? .
Arriving at the ht8 system of services was an example of using “system science” to design a “system of services” (hence the use of the book to illustrate the article).
As pointed out in the book “a service system includes the intended benefit to the customer and the structure and processes that accomplish this benefit”.
The book introduces the concept of “Service Machine” - a metaphor that elicits the fundamental characteristics of “service systems” that do something efficiently, quickly, or repeatedly for a defined end.
Stated a little differently, “service systems” do something efficiently, quickly or repeatedly, for a “defined end”.
In other words, “service systems” are “service machines”.

In the case of the ht8 service system, the “defined end” is to:
BTW, a machine is an “artifact” designed for a purpose, which has several parts, assembled as per design specifications.
And as pointed out in the book “service machines” need to be structured (designed) to “adapt” to the constraints and changing / evolving expectations of the market served, acknowledging the fact that services are “co-created” through the integration of providers’ and customers’ resources (input).
And this is the reason that the “ht8 Service Machine” was designed as a EMVIO entity – ever-evolving and adapting (? https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/emvio-entities-health-tourism-constantinides-m-d-ph-d-/? ).
a short note on System (or Systems) Science
…the study of complex systems, like ecosystems, economies or organizations
“systems science” is the study of complex systems, like ecosystems, economies or organizations.
It looks at how different parts of a system interact and influence each other to understand the overall behavior.
It's about seeing the big picture, how everything is connected, how the different parts interact and influence each other - and how small changes can have large effects.
BTW, Contemporary Health Tourism (ht8), an Integrated Economic Ecosystem was designed using the “systems science” approach.
