Service - from Transactional to Transformational

Service - from Transactional to Transformational

After 30 years plus in the world of technology-enabled Service & Operations leadership, I am delighted to finally share my successes, failures & learnings around all things ‘Service’, especially:

·????????how & why organizations must reinvigorate their existing Services from purely ‘transactional’ into truly ‘transformational’

·????????how & why organizations need to establish new Services faster than ever before

·????????how & why organizations should look to grow new Service revenue streams, turning their Products into Services (#Servitization), in the drive towards delivering 'Everything-as-a-Service' (XaaS)

I have been blessed to experience business life from several very different perspectives – that of a direct customer, supplier & service provider, advisor and independent practitioner – and across several different industry sectors including Telecoms, IT Software & Services, Medical Electronics, Transport, Food and Drink Manufacturing, Utilities, Energy, Engineering. This has therefore given me deep insight into what each interested party needs and wants, how they behave to get it and how enterprise clients can navigate the landscape to achieve successful business outcomes, leveraging the best from all constituent parties.

Whilst I have driven and directed many IT & operational (OT) technology-based projects, programs and initiatives throughout my career, I have always maintained my technology independence, being just another business guy. This has helped me maintain a forensic focus around simple business drivers that make any organization ‘successful’ – whether for-profit or not, public or private, large, medium or small.

Building on a first degree in #ElectronicEngineering and a masters degree in Business Administration (#MBA), I have learned how to exploit the great benefits of legacy technologies as well as new & emerging technologies, to deliver real-world business outcomes for customers, employers and partners alike.

Over the past six months, I have had the opportunity to research the growing trend called #Servitization – the transformation of an organization’s products into services, enabled by the innovative use of always-on cloud and IoT-based technologies.

I am a firm believer in the fundamental cornerstone principle that the service an organization delivers – whether to a prospective or existing customer, strategic partner, engaged employee or just interested on-looker, is the bedrock to delivering outstanding customer experiences and real ‘transformations’ in ways of working, behaving and being.

So this latest trend in #Servitization, or the innovation and delivery of more advanced and connected services, excites me considerably, as it brings together all my worlds and presents all interested parties with new opportunities to do something amazing for our communities and society as a whole.
