No Service: Finding Connection in Disconnection

No Service: Finding Connection in Disconnection

Over the recent long weekend, my friends and I ventured to Nuwara Eliya. As usual, our goal was to escape the busy concrete jungles and reconnect with nature. However, our timing couldn't have been worse. We were greeted by a thick fog with only 15m visibility and constant rain, preventing us from stepping one foot outside the bungalow.

To make things even more interesting, we had no service. Our mobile phones were practically useless except for taking pictures and playing the few songs we had saved. So, we ended up playing card games like Kent and "Do You Know Your Family?" most of the time.

Looking back at this picture we took near Gregory Lake, Nuwara Eliya, I realize that having no service was a blessing in disguise. It forced us to be present and engage with each other in ways we often forget in our tech-driven lives. These moments, disconnected from the digital world, allowed us to create and cherish memories reminiscent of simpler times from our childhood.

In a world that's always connected, sometimes the best connections are made when we disconnect.
