The Service based Leadership Mentality

The Service based Leadership Mentality

Good leaders don't work for recognition. But as a leader, I always hope the way I live my life inspires others to dream big and accomplish their goals. With an industry as sacred as homeownership, we have to bring the best to our team. It's not their job to serve us; it's the exact opposite.?

It's not about the paycheck. It's not about incentives. It's about creating genuine connections and opportunities. Serving others, and understanding what really matters.

Time is Worth More than Money

As a leader, you've got to give your time and present the opportunity for your crew to make the most of theirs. Time is precious, so it's important to encourage balance in our lives outside of the office, as we set an example of performance and an environment of community.

The solutions to the problems you will inevitably face lay in the conversations. If you focus on doing the right thing, opening doors to conversations and strategy, and lean on core values from the time you get up in the morning, you're setting yourself up to crush your day. You'll make the most of your valuable time and feel a sense of accomplishment that enables you to be proud of whom you are facing in the mirror every day and help you sleep like a baby at night.?

Make Listening a Key Leadership Skill

Whether we're dealing with a consumer, competitor, or an employee, when the core of the person is pure, you'll hear them talk and know right away. Listen generously and respond with kindness. When there is conflict and somebody comes to you with anger, find a motive. They will build a roadmap for you to guide to a solution.

Making room for everybody to be heard is essential. In our strategy meetings, everybody is invited. There's nothing to hide, and every voice is valid and imperative to our success.??

Leaders are sitting in a position of knowledge, which simply means you have access to more information. It's still important to listen and make proactive decisions rather than reactive situations trying to drive and control the scenario.

Leadership is About a Legacy of Service

Share your knowledge. The secret sauce doesn't need to be held close; it needs to be shared. Think of the family recipe that grandma has that has been a secret. When grandma goes, it goes with her. But if she shares it, it lives on and brings others happiness. When you lead from an abundance mindset, you realize there's no such thing as the secret sauce, and you need to share and serve others with what you have and know. And just like grandma, nobody will ever do it quite like you. So share in the spirit of making others better. It is not our team that is hired to serve us- it's our team that makes us better. And we are there to guide them to that greatness.
