To Serve and Protect

To Serve and Protect

Ok Going to go on a bit of a rant this morning folk. As most of you are aware a 30 yr old man was shot and killed by Ottawa police at the Elmvale Mall yesterday. These incidents are becoming far too common in our city and we are all worried about it. According to the media the police were called to investigate a suspicious man who apparently had a weapon. while interacting with police he was shot by one office and died from his injuries. One of the officers sustained minor injuries in the altercation and was taken to hospital and later released. There are going to people who will automatically blame the police for this without knowing what transpired to get to this point. The investigation is ongoing and we don't have all the facts. It is a tragedy that a man lost his life and I feel for his family. It was not too long ago we were all devastated when officer Eric Czapnik was stabbed and died from his injuries while sitting in his car at the Ottawa hospital. Most of us don't have to worry if we are going to make it home after our shift, most of us never give our safety a second thought. These men and woman put their lives on the line every single day to keep us safe. We are all to quick to judge the police and forget that they are people just like everyone else and they suffer as well in these situations. I would like everyone to put themselves in the shoes of the officer involved and consider how they are dealing with this right now. Some are going to say "Well they wanted that job so." I understand they took on this role of their own free will, however they took on the role to protect and serve. Until this investigation is completed we need to show our support to this officer and all who put on a uniform everyday to protect and serve their community. Because without them we are all in danger.

God bless them all.

If it wasn’t for the men and women in blue, we would all be in trouble. Easy to judge when sitting safe and sound in your living room
