Serve The Needs of Others

Serve The Needs of Others

Service as a Competitive Advantage?(part 2)

“It takes months to find a customer, seconds to lose one.” ~Vince Lombardi

Service is one of five ways (Price, Quality, Service, Delivery, Sales Effectiveness) to give yourself a competitive advantage.??Service will always help to positively differentiate yourself, as a Professional Salesperson, in a very crowded marketplace.

To provide truly outstanding service,?QUIT RELYING ON EMAIL!!??Email does not Sell!?It’s a crutch and a lazy way to do business, much less build relationships and provide effective service.?Customers want to be communicated with.?They want to be kept up to date on status, issues, resolutions, latest trends & product technology, etc.?Stop trying to communicate via email.?We’re all sick of all the constant barrage of email we receive.?Call them!?A phone call doesn’t take that long yet it provides tremendous dividends and will actually save you time in the long run, (email tag, mis-read tone, misunderstanding, etc.).

Another way to provide exceptional service is to accept accountability, (regardless of who’s fault it may be).?Professional Salespeople who are successful at selling at premium prices know that nobody pays big bucks for excuses – nobody!??This is covered in more detail in,?Step 6 –?“Victory is Yours!”?of my private sales coaching program,?“88 Days to Six Figure Earnings”.

No Buyer or Customer wants to put up with a bunch of half-baked excuses as to why things that were promised did not occur, and they certainly won’t tolerate being aggravated and inconvenienced by slip-shod performance on the part of their vendor.?A Professional Salesperson doesn’t hide or try to avoid the Customer, hoping the problem goes away – because it never does.?A Professional Salesperson “steps-up” and assumes total responsibility for “the ball being dropped”, regardless of who is at fault, and then devotes themself to obtaining a complete and satisfactory resolution in a timely manner.?

In closing, I’ll refer to one of my favorite verses of the Tao Te Ching:??

Why do heaven and earth last forever???

They do not live for themselves only.

This is the secret of their durability.

For this reason, the sage puts himself last,

And so, ends up ahead.

Serve the needs of others,

And all of your own needs will be fulfilled.

Through selfless action, fulfillment is attained.

Next time, Delivery as a Competitive Advantage.
