Jungle Giants film
Excited to see the new summer campaign for The Lost Gardens of Heligan out in the world. We developed the campaign concept of ‘Jungle Giants’ centred around the incredible sub-tropical jungle area of the gardens, bringing it to life across media and directing this hero film produced by our friends at Here Now. The film shows the towering jungle from an entirely new perspective through the eyes of the smallest garden creatures and involved some very interesting camera set-ups!
It’s been great taking a plant and planet focused client like Heligan Gardens through our planet-centred design approach. Looking forward to more of it!
Trophy design to celebrate humanity’s biggest challenge
We recently designed a new eco trophy for the prestigious Longitude Prize on AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance) delivered by Challenge Works. The sail-like design is a nod to the prize’s nautical heritage with the original Longitude prize challenge posed in the 1700s to solve the ‘unsolvable’ problem of tracking longitude at sea.
The current theme was set to tackle the global challenge of antibiotic resistance and superbugs. Following a decade of developments, the £8m was awarded to the PA-100 AST System from Sysmex Astrego — an accessible and innovative diagnostic test for more accurate prescribing to treat UTIs.
The trophy will be on display in the Science Museum from August if you want to check it out!
Bosinver – a place of first times, favourite times and fun
Bosinver Farm Cottages and their force of nature founder Pat Smith AKA Action Nan are purveyors of magical moments. The brand we created for Bosinver 12 years ago is still going strong but was in need of a little refresh. Drawing from nature’s paintbox, we put together a vibrant colour palette that injects the optimism we all need so much right now into the Bosinver brand world.?
As Bosinver has grown and evolved, there was a need to expand the original brand guidelines giving the team something that is a useful resource in their day to day activities.
Serious play
A sneak peek of a little something playful. Never underestimate the power of play for unleashing conversation, imagination and helping to tackle even weighty topics. Introducing an element of playfulness can be a great way to break down barriers for interaction in large groups at events and conferences too.
INSPIRATION
Books to change the way you think
The team have read some really good, gripping non-fiction lately. The kind of reads that change the way you think about, or look at something.
Fire season – field notes from a wilderness lookout Philip Connors chronicles a summer spent in the Gila Wilderness as a fire lookout. The book offers both history and a different perspective around forest fires, managed wilderness areas and conservation in general. Made us question fire being positioned as a villain.
The Lost Rainforests of Britain Did you know Britain used to be covered in temperate rainforest? Guy Shrubsole takes us on a journey to discover these forgotten, and sadly shrunken, forests and their importance. This book is a fascinating look at an ecosystem most brits know very little about — absolutely mind-blowing.
Why we sleep Matthew Walker explores why sleep is so crucial for our health, memory, creativity, wellbeing, and happiness. Packed with both science and practical tips, really well written, super interesting and full of ‘wow moments’. Everybody should read this book!
SENSES
Flamingone
For all those worried about AI killing creativity, and the lines between what’s real and not starting to blur, check out this story of nature photographer Miles Astray who entered a real photo into an AI image competition and lo and behold — it won. Aster was disqualified from the competition but said; “I wanted to show that nature can still beat the machine and that there is still merit in real work from real creatives”
Brush Hour
We’ve also been enjoying the abstract brush strokes and artwork naming of artist Catherine Spilman.
