A series of around 7000 earthquakes rattle residents of Grímsey!

Hello dear readers,
There have been very interesting developments north of Iceland where there was a powerful earthquake on Thursday that measured 4.9 on the Richter scale. Since?over 6900 earthquakes have been recorded in the area, most of them close to the tiny island?Grímsey.
Grímsey is inhabited by 58 people and as a precaution the coast guard sent a ship up there presumably to be able to quickly evacuate the island or provide assistance if the situation would become dangerous (in a case of an even stronger earthquake or an?eruption for example).
This week the tremors have gotten smaller than they were during the weekend and hopefully the worst is past for the inhabitants of this tiny island.
Feel free to check out the brand new newscast below for more news! It was shot yesterday in front of the Icelandic Parliament. Enjoy!
Until next time,
