Serial Killer's Victims
In the aftermath of the serial killer murders I write about in my new book, the entire community was traumatized. Here's how it impacted one of my closest friends:
Based on the little I knew about what happened to her when she was a child, I didn’t bring up the subject of the sorority murders to Grace. And neither did she, Doug, or the girls when I was around.
But yesterday, as we were chatting on her front porch during a warm winter’s day, I learned that she probably was thinking about it. Suddenly, Grace stopped talking, and stared down the street. My eyes followed hers and I saw the headless child-size torso of a doll lying atop a garbage can in front of a neighbor’s house.
Suddenly, she started speaking again. But it wasn’t small talk as it had been before. It was about the deranged elementary school teacher who had taken her and two friends out into a rural area, assaulted and tortured them, and left them for dead.
