Nuanced Exploration
In a world often dominated by well-trodden paths and bustling tourist destinations, there exists a charm in venturing onto the road less travelled
The Charms of History
When friends announced two months ago in impromptu manner that they were getting married, the little town of Beechworth (population 3,290) in country Victoria was soon experiencing a flurry of accommodation bookings. When we were searching for ever diminishing available lodgings in the town centre, we chanced upon a converted historic bank building and there began our adventures for the weekend. First deviation on the road - not your usual motel.
The journey begins with a stroll through wide streets and historic landmarks that whisper many tales of times long past; days of horse and buggy and gold miners on their way to the bank to deposit their treasure. Each corner holds a piece of the town's history; old pubs, former pubs and banks, and many hundred-year old churches. The historic wealth of the district appears to be ongoing; long ago morphing into productive farming, horticulture, and viniculture.
Gourmet Delights
As the sun sets, the road less travelled leads to hidden gems - a little wine bar tucked away from the bustling crowds. Here, the air is filled with the murmur of happy conversations amid the clinking of glasses and the aroma of delectable tapas.
Savouring these regional delights becomes a celebration of both the present moment and the craftsmanship of generations past.
Hospitality
Resting for the night in a charming B&B, the warmth of hospitality becomes a defining feature of the journey. The hosts by happy coincidence also know our friends who are getting married; this, by virtue of their working together to protect the heritage buildings and gardens of this old town.
Joining the Dots
In the conversations with our hosts, we find that the husband also owns a food business. Our journey takes a meaningful detour as I inform the hosts that I work with a number of food industry clients.
Food industry opportunities and ideas are discussed. This intersection of travel and discovery of shared interests transforms our trip into a catalyst for offering ideas for business growth

A Satisfying Symphony
In the end, the road less travelled weaves a symphony of experiences - tourism business contribution, history, wine and food, community connection, and the gratification of making a difference.
It reaffirms the belief that travel is not just about places but about the people and the stories they share.
Choosing the road less travelled is an invitation to embrace the unknown, discover the extraordinary in the ordinary, and find satisfaction not just in personal enjoyment but in contributing to the well-being of the places visited
It's a journey that transcends the physical and becomes a tapestry of shared moments, leaving an enduring legacy for both the traveller and the community.
Last but not least, the weekend idyll creates indelible moments imprinted in memory.
Memories which repeat by way of daydreams of joy and visions for the future.
All the best for the week ahead!

1 年Great place to visit with the Chiltern National Park and Mt Pilot...beautiful trails to walk or with horses too. The Bicentennial Trail passes by there too- now that is certainly a road less travelled. ??
