SerbLink Spotlight- Dr. Tatijana Busic
How do you integrate your expertise in clinical psychology with organizational consulting to develop leadership programs and address workplace challenges?
I approach leadership development by fusing clinical insights—particularly in stress, trauma, and emotional and adaptive intelligence—with organizational needs. By understanding human behavior and stress responses on a deeper psychological level, I create programs that are not only functional but transformative. Leadership is deeply personal, so I work on building psychologically aware leaders who can thrive in complex environments and lead with authenticity, resilience, and purpose. The key is developing leadership from the inside out, ensuring it aligns with personal values and broader organizational goals.
When did you realize that blending clinical psychology and organizational consulting was the field you wanted to pursue? Do you have any advice for individuals looking to merge psychological expertise with business practices?
I realized the power of blending clinical psychology with organizational consulting early in my career when I noticed a significant gap between individual psychological well-being and organizational performance. Addressing this gap became my passion. My advice for anyone merging psychology with business is to embrace both fields fully—don't just add psychological insights to business models but use those insights to reframe leadership and organizational development. It's important to understand both the personal and systemic factors at play and how they influence performance, culture, and well-being.

In your role as both a clinical and organizational psychologist, how do you balance addressing individual mental health needs with broader organizational goals?
This balance comes down to recognizing that individual well-being and organizational success are intertwined. By supporting individual mental health, we enhance performance, creativity, and resilience within the organization. I prioritize creating psychologically safe environments where people can thrive while aligning these efforts with organizational goals. It’s not an either/or situation—helping individuals ultimately drives organizational success. The focus is on promoting mental health in a way that adds value both personally and professionally.
What are some key trends you've noticed in corporate culture regarding emotional intelligence and resilience, and how have you tailored your workshops to address these trends?
There’s been a growing recognition of the importance of emotional intelligence and resilience in leadership. I’ve seen a shift toward values-driven leadership and greater emphasis on emotional regulation, stress tolerance, and empathy in the workplace. In my workshops, I focus on building emotional mastery and psychological safety. I incorporate neuroscience fundamentals to help leaders understand how their brains react to stress, change, crisis and emotion, and provide tools for building agility, self-regulation, and authentic leadership.
How has your Serbian heritage influenced your career?
My Serbian heritage has given me a strong sense of resilience, adaptability, and cultural awareness. Growing up with a foot in two worlds—Eastern Europe and Western culture—has helped me navigate complex dynamics with a broader perspective. It’s given me a unique sensitivity to the experiences of immigrants and those navigating cultural transitions, which is a core aspect of my work. This blend of cultural perspectives informs how I approach leadership, allowing me to bring diversity, empathy, and strength to the table

4 个月Tatijana Busic, Ph.D. - wonderful insights. Thank you!! Blending Psychology with Organization Consulting is something even I am passionate about. Often there is wide gap that prevails between the leadership and implementation team, as a result several factors such as stress, ego, negativity and more starts to grow thereby unable to realize the vision. Understanding self, values and motivation is equally important from both the ends, and when this happens we could harvest efficiency, creative and productive. What organizations instead do is not understand the psychology aspect - which is mostly taken for granted and even neglected, and try to apply band aid fix solution which is temporary and eventually leads towards other side of progress. I felt happy in reading this article and reminds me that there is lot to contribute in this space. Thank you once again!! Best wishes to you!!
