Sequel volunteers help the homeless
The Sequel team has recently been out and about with our new charity partner, Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT), as part of our volunteer programme. The SCT does amazing work for those who sleep rough each night, suffer from addiction, are long-term unemployed or are socially isolated.
In addition to drop-in centres and housing, the SCT offers residential drug/alcohol recovery centres, employment initiatives, training and personal development services and peer-led support groups. This helps to make people self-sufficient, more integrated into society, and part of the community.
In light of this, last week a team of enthusiastic Sequel volunteers swapped their laptops and suits for shears and spades and got stuck in at the SCT’s public gardens in Shoreditch, East London, helping to care for the gardens and get them ready for the winter. We were all very happy to get involved in such a great project, especially when it benefits those in the community around us.
But it doesn’t stop there! Many of us take the simple things we use every day for granted, such as a coat, a hat or even just toothpaste; not everyone is lucky enough to have these necessities. We are therefore encouraging everyone at Sequel to donate warm clothes and essentials for those who aren’t as fortunate as we are, which are then passed onto to the charity.
We are grateful for the opportunity to be involved in tackling such an important and local issue. This is just the first of many volunteering initiatives that we have planned with the SCT and we can’t wait to take part again. We hope other companies, and individuals will get involved with the SCT and help reduce the number of people sleeping rough this winter.

6 年It was a pleasure working with the team from the Spitalfields Crypt Trust to establish this relationship. We were all blown away by the support they offer to our local community and look forward to an extremely productive partnership going into 2019. I would also like to thank the team who donated bags and bags of clothes and toiletries and Verisk who donated $2,500 on our behalf. Also good luck to our Malaga team who start their volunteering relationship this week with their chosen charity supporting and visiting seriously ill children in Malaga hospitals. Now it’s time for our Christmas Jumper Day where the UK office will continue with our tradition, now in its 5th year, of supporting GOSH. Having already raised over £5,500 we hope to break the £7k total.
What a fantastic initiative from a forward thinking company. Well done to all those involved in making this happen
