September: A Third Helping...
Kit Killington
Founder & Agent at Killington Arts Illustration Agency. Facilitating beautiful projects and building careers for over 25 years
For the third Four x Four this month we have chosen to share the beautiful work of Paul Rogers. ?His encyclopedic knowledge of design and illustration history is matched only by his elegant originality. ?His work graces magazines, billboards and book covers worldwide and he brings a joy and singularity to each project. ?We hold a fabulous back catalogue of his works, so if you would like to see more please don't hesitate to get in touch. ?Alternatively, you can visit our website, social media or Behance pages.
Paul, it is no secret, has a passion for jazz. He worked closely with The Wynton Marsalis Septet to create this striking poster for the summer tour. ?He drew Wynton in a modernist summer landscape with a path curling off into the distance as a nod to his love of being on the road again. ?
The poster won gold at the Graphis Poster Awards and was also selected by the jury of the Society of Illustrators for inclusion in their annual exhibition..

Paul Rogers' work has a natural warmth and humour that lends itself to all forms of visual communication. ?Whether it be publishing, marketing or editorial, Paul's landscapes show our world in a fresh and appealing way. ??
This charming piece for The Los Angeles Times is one of our favorites. ?It shows the bustle of the big city and all of life is here....
If you would like to see more of Paul's pieces, do visit our website or join us on social media. Alternatively, you can view our Behance pages which are updated regularly with new and interesting pieces as they are launched.
Paul's recent brief for The New Yorker was to capture what it means to be French during the Paris 2024 Olympics - the sense of pride, history and that 'je ne sais quoi'. No mean feat.

He chose a favourite French film character, Monsieur Hulot to pay tribute to Paris' long history of design and the arts. ?A wonderful mixture of elegance and charm - just like the city itself.

I suppose it could be seen as a bit of a cheat to include 4 images as one, but this set of Ernest Hemingway covers for Penguin Random House was just too wonderful to be separated. ?Paul has pared back the images to their very essence in order to bring uniformity, drama and intrigue. They reflect Hemmingway's terse, sparse style - what he termed, the Iceberg Style of writing.
