SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

Some months feel huge. Recently the V-Quest team prepared for the launch of our new tool, moved offices and temporarily lost our Co-founder Barry to his belated honeymoon in Europe.? With winter out of the way we are looking forward to better weather, longer days and Southern hemisphere BBQ's.

NEW CARBON BASICS TOOL

The wait is over. Just this week we launched our Carbon Basics tool.

It’s a game changer when it comes to carbon analytics. It’s the first design-integrated, live feedback solution for carbon measurement.

Carbon Basics is now available for use in New Zealand. If you are in Australia, we will be launching Basics October 14th.

Basics, is a simplified carbon measurement tool, that is different from all the others.

Why?

- Cost-effective

- Works at all design stages

- Integrated live, into your design software (no export gateway)

- No level of detail barrier

- Local carbon data

- Easy to learn

OUR NEW OFFICE

Lean Canvas

It was a big effort but worth it. Early September we packed up all our stuff and relocated to the new @Lean Canvas co-working space, with dedicated company fixed desk space. We are now located upstairs at 81c Lichfield Street.

Our new offices are the biz. Comfortable, loads of breakout space, a dedicated podcast room, high-speed internet, and a great community of software developers, marketing experts, videographers, sustainability consultants and all round good people. Dark Matter, The Idea Consultancy, to mention a few.

If you are looking for a permanent workspace, a hot desk, or a meeting room, check out @Lean Canvas. The best equipped and most cost-effective solution in Christchurch.

If you are looking for us, you'll find us here.

ATHENA INSITUTE OF SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS COLAB

V-Quest is set out to be global from day one. We are always looking for early opportunities across the globe to showcase what we are doing and collaborate with the best partners out there. Back in May, we announced our collaboration with Trimble, gaining access to their Global Network.

This month we announced our new collaboration with Athena Sustainable Materials Institute. Athena is a non-profit research collaborative bringing life cycle assessment to the construction industry.

Athena has one of the most advanced carbon life cycle tools available anywhere. Their LCA tool is a certified LCA compliance reporting tool for North America. It's early days but we both see some awesome opportunities to help streamline the carbon accounting process, material quantification, and data analysis, facilitating an easier transition to Athena's LCA solution.

Just like BRANZ LCAQuick, Nabers Carbon tool, and GreenStar LCA solutions in Australasia, V-Quest will work with Athena to provide a full and streamlined LCA workflow for North America.

TRIMBLE DIMENSIONS & SKETCHUP BASECAMP

We announced back in April that we will be speaking at the Trimble Dimensions global conference this coming November. We will be showcasing the power of V-Quest and also a new AI feature that Trimble & SketchUp have been helping us with. We won't announce anything here but its an exciting growth opportunity for us. We will also have an exhibition floor area to demo V-Quest to the 15,000 attendees. Bloody exciting.

The conference is on the 11-13th of November at the Venetian Resort, Las Vegas. The conference showcases what's new, what's next and the challenges that Trimble and their collaborators are solving.

Just over 6 weeks now to the first day. If you happen to be around, you can get tickets here

V-QUEST MEETS WITH NZ MINISTRY FOR BUILDING

This month we got to meet with Honorable Chris Penk the New Zealand Minister for Building and MBIE to discuss the pending carbon legislation and V-Quest as a solution to reducing the workload associated with carbon measurement, carbon management, and compliance reporting.

The discussion was lively and engaging, with V-Quest pushing both the need for climate legislation and building standard updates. We stressed the major missed opportunities that exist to prevent carbon emissions in our construction industry without impacting costs. The major opportunities that existing when deep design analytics are integrated into the design process to optimise construction design.

We mentioned our case study, where a V-Quest implementation resulted in the prevention of 3,750,000 kilograms of carbon emissions, saved the developer $750,000 and increased their yields by showing them the missed design opportunities on cost, carbon and building, mass.

Chris and his team were very receptive and saw an opportunity for V-Quest to potentially be used within the consenting process for new buildings. Something we have agreed to continue the discussion around.

Hopefully, we will see the release of the planned climate legislation now that there are solutions to reduce the impact.

EDUCATION PROGRAMME

We now have Massey University, ARA Institute of Canterbury and Otago Polytech tutors and students actively using V-Quest Carbon management solutions. Newly graduated Architects and technicians will enter the market trained and ready to measure and manage carbon in the design process.

This month we also got to demo for Victoria University of Wellington and Te Ohomai Institute of Technology. We hope to get the go ahead to provide education licenses and onboarding very soon.

If you are studying, tutoring or running a Structural Engineering Course or Architectural course, please get in touch with us. We are happy to demo our solutions.?

ASX TECH SUMMIT

We will be on the exhibition floor at the ASX Tech Summit on the 27th of September in Christchurch, New Zealand. Just 8 days away.

We are delighted to have been picked as one of four winners of the ASX startup competition to secure free exhibition space. Come along if you are around and ask us some tough questions. Get your tickets here.

The ASX Tech Summit is an event that focuses on the technology sector within the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). It brings together tech industry leaders, investors, and companies to discuss trends, opportunities, and innovations in the technology sector.

TEAM NEWS

As mentioned above our co-founder Barry recently got married to his lovely partner Kemmey, they spent a month touring Italy, Croatia and Montenegro. Kemmey enjoyed the relentless heat, Barry enjoyed the Italian deli sandwiches. Our congrats to them both.

We also had Abby Heath join V-Quest as an intern. Abby is currently studying Information & Communication Technology at Ara Institute of Canterbury and will be with us until mid-November. Her cutting edge expertise in data will be invaluable as we gear up for our expansion into the Australian and US markets

Abby will be contributing to our R&D efforts, focusing on international building standards, carbon legislation and environmental product performance data.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have her on board as we continue to grow our international reach.
