This month, the international education community came together at the prestigious Guildhall in London for the PIEoneer Awards 2024. The PIEoneer Awards, now in their eighth year, is a platform for recognising the incredible innovation and impact within the global education sector.

The historic Guildhall provided a stunning backdrop to an evening filled with stories of exceptional achievements and transformative contributions to international education. From digital innovation and sustainable initiatives to outstanding student services and global partnerships, this year's finalists represented the very best in our field.

Each of the 20 award categories highlighted the critical work being done across the globe to foster cross-border collaboration and improve access to quality education.

Some 23 winners and 28 highly commended finalists were recognised for their accomplishments last year. Meet all our winners.

The British Council's Jacqui Jenkins was recognised for her outstanding leadership and significant contribution to the international education sector. The Charlene Allen award for inspirational leadership was created to honour the memory and enduring legacy of Charlene Allen, a remarkable individual who had an incredible impact on many in the international education sector, and who tragically passed away this year. This year, we were delighted to improve our sustainability credentials by encouraging guests to consider making a greener choice for their outfit by wearing something pre-worn, and your looks on the #ThePIEgreencarpet did not disappoint!

Government representatives from around Europe also shared how internationalisation was influencing their countries during a panel discussion, giving examples of how international students are enriching their study destinations.

Day two of the conference was buzzing with intrigue over shock news from Canada that the country plans to further tighten its existing cap on student visas – to the dismay of colleagues from the Canadian pavilion. Read more here.?
