5 个月In recent days, the alpine ski racing federation—FIS—met in the city of Zurich to brainstorm about how to enhance safety. This was interesting because my biomechanically-proven interventions can mitigate the 2 main types of injuries in alpine skiing—ACL & MCL injuries. However, I was not invited. It is well known that skiing-injuries in Switzerland affect the GDP of Switzerland. This is why, in the late 1960’s / early ‘70’s, the Swiss Bfü was formed to develop interventions to reduce skiing injuries to enhance Switzerland’s GDP. The formation of the Bfü initially included Switzerland’s largest insurance companies because this work could also reduce insurance claims. Now, more that 50 years later, here we are again, dealing with new types of frequent and severe alpine skiing injuries & real solutions that could have a positive impact on ski racing AND recreational skiers. But known interventions are ignored by the FIS — and the Bfü does not step-in to include my proven interventions. If real change is to be enacted to reduce alpine skiing injuries—maybe the main Swiss insurance companies should once again become involved. How might Zurich Insurance intervene? I can be reached thru LinkedIn. Respectfully, Rick Howell
