Events
Highlights from CPhI in Milan
Over 2,300 exhibitors presented their products and services to approximately 60,000 attendees, representing every part of the pharmaceutical supply chain, all within three days. CPHI provides a unique opportunity for professionals to connect, explore innovations, and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry.
Tamás Sohajda, Gergely Tóth, and Tamas Vargadi represented CarboHyde. Throughout the event, they participated in around 80 meetings with partners, exhibitors, and new connections. Despite the pharmaceutical industry’s ever-changing landscape, CPHI remains one of the best venues for networking, bringing together professionals from across the sector in one place.
The event provided an opportunity to engage with Sugammadex manufacturers, cyclodextrin producers and formulators, contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs), formulation experts, as well as professionals from R&D, procurement, business development, and more.

Bicyclos cyclodextrin workshop in Budapest
On Day 1, we started with with students sharing results and plans from their secondments, then moved along to hear from PIs about challenges, possibilities and wishes regarding the project.
Day 2 was dedicated to science with our invited speakers Matthieu Sollogoub, Francesco Trotta and Dina Yannakopoulou followed by lectures from Jose Manuel Garcia Fernandez and Milo Malanga PhD (dreaming about making synthesis simple and sustainable) and we created some hypothetic ventures with Gergely Toth.
Day 3-4 was a mix of science and soft skills with analytical lectures (Ilse Manet and Szabolcs Béni) and cyclodextrins in electrosensors (Maria Antonietta Casulli). The last sessions of the workshop dealt with soft skills rather than science. Tamas Sohajda shared insights of using social media and AI for making science more accessible. Then Ilse Manet, Maria Antonietta Casulli and Barbara Ventura delivered a workshop about grantwriting.
Secondments
Next step of the Bicyclos HEurope project for CarboHyde:Dani Bisericaru goes to Buenos Aires to learn from Carlos Modenutti and try to model how our cyclodextrins interact with some proteins we target.
Pipeline
We started sharing some data about our recently partnered new cyclodextrin asset, KS-01, which we develop against triple negative breast cancer and other types of cancers.
And some fun
CarboHyde fishing
Mysteriously the 3rd annual CarboHyde fishing day was less popular than last years (#winteriscoming). Only the hardcore fishermen, Gergely Toth, Szabolcs Béni and Milo Malanga PhD were brave enough to test their skills. Also this was the first year when we caught something :)
The King of Cyclodextrins
Who is the king of cyclodextrins? Was the name of the quiz we took to close the Bicyclos HEurope workshop. Apparently, its Adrián Matencio Durán aka PowerDex! At least until the next event :)
Stay tuned for more news!
