For the final Four x Four this month we wanted to share the sumptuous work of Ailsa Johnson. ?Her pieces are as bold as they are elegant and have appeared on gourmet packaging, boutique hotel walls and magazine supplements galore. ?Her sensitive humour coupled with urbane styling has made her work a favorite for illustrating challenging and sometimes cheeky subjects! If you would like to see more we would be delighted to hear from you. Alternatively, you can visit our website, social media or Behance pages.
Ailsa's style is inspired by her years living in Japan. ?Her images evoke a Japanese elegant simplicity and pare back the imagery to its essence. ?This allows her bold colours and graphic compositions to be both modern and steeped in a quiet sense of history.?
Her work is a measure of her travel experiences and is a wonderful mixture of traditional cultures and modern vibrancy. ?This cover for Wilma Stockenstr?rm's book, The Expedition to the Baobab Tree used superb austereness and dramatic lighting to reflect the personal story of dislocation and empowerment.

The more cheeky subjects that I spoke of might be epitomised by this delicate little image. Commissioned by Dame Magazine, the brief was to find an elegant way of illustrating an article on the history of ladies 'intimate topiary' shall we say?
If you would like to see more of Alisa's gorgeous works do visit our website or join us on social media. Alternatively, you can view our Behance pages which are updated regularly with new and interesting pieces as they are launched.
Ailsa worked closely with the team at Section L Hotels in Tokyo to create beautiful wall art that mirrored the ethos of this achingly cool company. The brief was to reflect the vibrant ethos of this forward-thinking brand and produce wall panels for remarkable apartments where 'Scandinavian chic meets Japanese minimalism'. ?Ailsa was a perfect choice and she brought humour, warmth and vitality to each room.

Food is one of Ailsa's favourite subjects to handle and she always manages to bring an energy and life to each dish. ?Having worked for gourmet bakeries packaging and lifestyle magazines worldwide, it was a delight for her to be offered a cover for the food culture magazine, 'At The Table'. ?
They loved her vibrant palette and joyful energy that brought a sense of animation to a static image.
