Hi members,
Have things really changed, or have they just gotten a facelift to make us feel better? It seems like our diversity chats have gone from being an important talk and welcomed topic about making real change to sounding like a scratched record that no one wants to listen to anymore. But organizations like Blacks In Performance Marketing are still keeping the conversation alive. They remind us that having a mix of cultures in our industry helps us relate better to the people we're serving and selling to – and that's crucial for our future success.?
Our industry has its fair share of challenges, especially when it comes to how we treat others. We keep asking questions, but are we asking the right ones to bring about lasting change? Our society is a big, diverse mix, and we all don't look or sound alike. So, to win over and relate to most, if not all, why not make a conscious effort and purposely aim to build a team that looks more like the audience we're trying to reach??
Instead of trying to fit your square pegs into round holes for years, why not intentionally bring in some diverse voices when making key decisions? Don't just stick to your usual crew. Join the conversation and be the change our industry needs to be even better. Let's not let this conversation get silenced, paused, or stopped until we've taken a good, hard look in the mirror and seen the real truth.?
In a nutshell, let's embrace diversity and inclusion in our industry in a way that's real and relatable, and make sure our teams reflect the diverse world we serve. The conversation shouldn't stop until we genuinely confront the realities that lie before us. Look in the mirror Daily and ask the Hard questions of yourself.?
