Use the following techniques to find linkable ideas:

Don’t Reinvent the Wheel

Enter your competitor’s domain into Semrush → Backlink Analytics → Indexed Pages:

Now you’ll see all the pages that have attracted the most backlinks.

Take the proven model, but put your own spin on it.

Use the Like-to-Link Method

Instead of looking at what competitor content has attracted backlinks, you’re going to look at what THEY like to link to.

Run a trusted entity through Semrush → Go to Outbound Domains:

Study the types of content they tend to link to and add these ideas to the link bait ideas tab:

Repeat this process with other relevant entities and then you’ll start to see a pattern. Once a pattern emerges, you need to create as much bait as possible (that’s proven to attract links).

Tap Into AI

Pick one idea from the syntax:

Then use the completed the prompt in ChatGPT:

• Give me 20 link bait ideas for data-driven assets for a HVAC business located in St Louis, MO.

2. Send 10 Outreach Emails Per Day

Assuming a modest 5% conversion, that’s 182 new referring domains in year one.

And imagine if you doubled your output.

3. Ramp Up SEO Content Production

Once your site authority grows, then start producing more SEO content.

But the key is to think in reverse.

Start at the bottom of the funnel like “Rankability free trial,” then move up the funnel like “best content optimization tools.”

And batch create based on clusters.

Go a mile deep on these topics before moving on.
