We've all read it somewhere, voice search is not the next big thing, it is already big and its's only getting bigger- voice search is expected to form 50% of all searches (Comscore).!
Here's a summary (from backlinko) of how you can optimize your content for voice search:
# Target longer and conversational keywords. Voice searchers often use longer keywords in a conversational tone (i.e natural language). You don't need to have those keywords in your title tag, just embed them around your content.
# Target question keywords and create a FAQ section for your website, or piece of content.
# Give people direct answers to their questions. Include Short, Concise Answers in Your Content, Google tends to answer voice search queries with short, 29-word results.
# Get into features snippets.
# Have long form content. All results on Google's first page have an average of 1900 words, but returns answers for voice search result from content that is about 2300 words.
# Include filler words like: the - of the, etc...
# Write for a 9th Grade Reading Level. No jargon, make everything clear and simple.
# Of course, improve your site speed if you are not working on that already!
# Focus on domain authority, as page authority matters less for voice search results.
# Video is a BIG part of Google’s strategy for answering voice search queries. Consider ranking your videos on Google if you want to get your content in front of voice searchers.
