Millions of people use Google search every day for different reasons. But while each search yields hundreds and thousands of results, even millions depending on the keyword being looked up, not a lot of users go beyond the first few pages of the search results. Many people stop on the first page; others go up to the third page. The websites you find on the succeeding pages are either low traffic or have low relevance.
If you are publishing a website, whether it's for personal or professional use, it's critical to understand how Google indexes content to attract increased traffic.
One of the things that Google is very particular about is quality. Having high-quality content increases your website's chance of getting a good place in Google search ranking.
Google's Response to Ranking Manipulation
The decision to place importance on quality is in response to constant manipulation of search results. In the early days, search engine optimization tactics were very simple. To get a good ranking, digital marketers do any, if not all, of the following:
In time, Google realized the presence of poor quality content and slapdash SEO tactics were not good for long-term credibility. Google decided to de-emphasize -- and even punish -- keyword and backlink abuse. More importantly, the search engine giant began to place the attribute of quality content very high on the criteria list for ranking determination.
How Googlebot Works
The process of indexing websites in the search engines begins with Google's web crawling bot called Googlebot. Crawling is a software program intended for scanning and compiling information about the various websites, blogs, and social media sites published on the near-infinite internet. Indexing is the final result of the analysis of the crawling.
Nonetheless, website publishers or owners should not passively rely on the Googlebot's decision to assist indexing. Successful Google indexing requires a concentrated effort to produce quality content.

Quality Draws Notice
Digital marketing professionals know that a dull and irrelevant advertising campaign is not going to draw attention. If you want to achieve high traffic and get good ranking in Google traffic, you must regularly post high-quality content. A quality content is well-written, unique, relevant, and well-presented. Auto spun articles or plagiarized content do not impress Google.
Maintaining Active and Relevant Website
Google likes active websites. A website that has not been updated for a long period of time is considered a "dead" website which goes down the search engine rankings. Google do this to give way to websites that are offering fresh and original content.
But just because your website regularly posts new content does not mean it will get a higher rank in search engines. Your new content won't mean anything if they are not relevant to your niche. Rather than counting the number of new content posted on a weekly basis, make sure each content adds value to your products or services and improve your relationship with your customers.
Besides posting quality content, regularly update and reasonably revamp your website.
