I have a rule of thumb not to take on clients who don’t understand the value of SEO.
It can be difficult to work with clients who just don’t see the value in what you do because they want instant result, and SEO result takes time.
If your client want instant result tell them to use Facebook and Google ads. If they still need SEO in future they must not stop.
SEO takes nothing less than 6 months to see result for un- competitive niches, but for competitive niches it takes nothing less than a year or two to make it to Page 3- 10 on Google.
SEO takes time to bring result and its one of the most expensive service.
Before you take a client job, explain to them or create a page that explain the value of your work and includes your different plan price.
Don't be surprise many of them will not come back because they want quick result. Those who did not come, leave them, a client you force to sign up for SEO service will give you problem tomorrow.
If you are a Nigerian offering SEO don't even focus on Nigerian, in fact, do your local SEO in some countries like US, Canada, UK and some countries where they will know the value.
Before someone will appreciate your value in Nigeria you must be dominating Position 1-5 on Google
The one who read your proposal and come knocking on your door understand how SEO works.
That's why most of SEO company don't work for Nigerian. When I was working in Anambra, I called one SEO company to work with our company then, they asked me how much is our monthly budget and I said for now, we don't want to spend more than $5000, they told me straight that they can't work with us.
I was like Are these people alright? You can't work with us bcoz we can't spend more than 1.9m monthly.
But I understand better now...
