SEO Best Practise - Part 10

Content is King...But Why??

In the words of Bill Gates back in ‘96, ‘Content is King’ – a slogan referring to the importance of content for marketing success. Things haven’t exactly changed since then.

Did you know that content is one of the fundamentals for boosting SEO?

With that said, it’s no surprise that 27 million pieces of content are shared online every single day.

Without it, your website won’t be equipped with the information needed for search engines to index your pages, meaning you’ll be left behind your competitors when it comes to moving up the ranks.

In simple terms, the higher a piece of content places on search engine results pages, (SERPS) the easier users will find it, resulting in more website clicks and the potential to generate new customers.

Well, that escalated quickly - but we have evidence to prove it. Studies show that the right content can achieve a 6 times higher conversion rate and 8 times more traffic to your website.

What is SEO content?

Content is a combination of written content, video and audio clips, and images.

Examples of written content include:

  1. ?Blog posts??
  2. ?Articles
  3. ??Web pages
  4. ???Whitepapers

However, content can also be in the form of social media posts and email newsletters.

Google has the intention to provide search engine results that are relevant and valuable to the end user. By focusing on delivering a regular content strategy, you’ll boost your chances of soaring up search engine results pages – it’s as simple as that.

How do you write winning SEO content?

Over the last few years, Google’s algorithms have constantly changed. Keeping updated with the latest shifts is crucial if you’re eager to stay at the top of SERPs.

However, this doesn’t mean writing down any old content that springs to mind. It needs to be high-quality, unique, and suitable for the user, or it’s pretty much useless.

With this in mind, you need to know a few essentials when developing a successful content strategy:

Length: Pieces over 1000+ words are proven to rank higher on search engines - but keep paragraphs short and snappy.

Formatting: Use headlines and bullet points to break up the content and help the reader (and search engine bots) skim the text with ease.

Readability: Google favours content that is simple to read, so users have a better chance of interpreting it. Use straightforward words and phrases and keep sentences brief.

Tone of voice: Sticking to a single tone of voice throughout your content helps the reader understand your point of view and brand personality.

Keywords: Research keywords related to your niche and slot them within the content naturally. This helps search engines grasp what your content is about. Be wary not to stuff in too many keywords or the content may be viewed as spam by Google.
