This temporary space created a whole new world of possibilities for families to enjoy a once off-limits public outing- a hockey game. "It really warms my heart to see kids like my son be able to enjoy things that other families get to do without thinking," Theroux told CTV News Edmonton.

SENSORY ACCOMMODATIONS MATTER

“So many individuals in the autistic community appreciate the opportunity to attend a hockey game. Creating spaces that allow people to come as they are, helps us create communities that are kind, understanding, and equitable. This event represents a growing understanding of the obstacles Autistic people might experience and shows how easy it is to create inclusive opportunities for all to enjoy.”?

-Melinda Noyes, Autism Edmonton's Executive Director.

?

“We are proud to support Autism Edmonton in their pursuit to make Rogers Place experiences more accessible for persons with intellectual disabilities. As an Edmonton-owned business, we know how deeply our community is connected to the great sport of hockey. We strongly feel that welcoming all to experience the game in person should also include intellectually disabled persons and their families. For this is the Canadian way.”

– Joel Rikley, VP, Associated Health Systems Inc.?

"It brings a smile to my face when I heard a fan tell me that this was the first time they were able to stay for entire game, all because of the room."

- Philip Giannini,?Account Executive at Oilers Entertainment Group
