Sense of Urgency: Is it missing?

Definition of Urgent: compelling or requiring immediate action or attention; imperative; pressing!

Why as people are we so compelled to procrastinate or push off decision? There seems to be this innate nature within us as human beings to resist commitment. This is holding so many of us back from making the choices or decisions we know we need to move forward successfully in many aspects of our life. It is all around us. People are waiting to buy something, waiting to call someone back, waiting to get in shape, waiting to invest money, waiting to go for the promotion! Folks, it is everywhere and it drives me nuts!

If you want something and you feel it is right for you, why not go for it TODAY! Today is the most important day of your life, EVERYDAY! We constantly let prospects push us around in sales and operate with a lack of urgency. You may ask why! Listen up! It's because we as sales professionals allow them to get away with this behavior and push us around! If something is right for your customer and you have integrity in your solutions for them then you have a duty to help guide them to a decision as quick as possible. Each and every day that goes by that we don't do this, we are at risk of having someone else come in and show them why it is important that they take the action that we and they need. Enough is enough!

Start living your life with purpose and quit running around from day to day waiting to do the things you want and need to do in life! You owe it to yourself and your clients to start picking up the pace and operating with a sense of urgency.

Hey Shawn, great post. The art of creating urgency could be a college course by itself. We all needs to have a constant reminder to sell the problem, show the urgency and be the solution.
