Sense - I Got Lots of Cents

Can a 10 year old have street smarts? Unlikely, unless someone taught them or demonstrated it to them. Does a young or old person know how to operate with sense on a part of town with more crime and issues? I hate to say this, but not if they don’t have sense. Does a single 25 year old with no kids have the sense of a 50 year old with kids and a spouse? Nope! Different senses are developed because of different realities.?
Yet, what is sense? It is your ability to see, touch, hear, taste, and smell things and how they influence your behavior. On another level, it is the ability to read a room, have social senses, discern what the people are saying or doing. Sense allows you to perceive accurately and adjust accordingly. Sense allows you to perceive danger and adjust accordingly. It’s fight or flight responses like animals possess. For example, animals ability to rely on sense actually allows them to continue living and to steer clear of predators and prey. It’s the pea cock raising its feathers to attract mates or scare away predators like a Medusa. It’s the moose attempting to appear stand offish to scare away a predator.?
“A sensible person sees danger and takes cover, but the inexperienced keep going and are punished.” — Proverbs 22:3
Can’t forget sense deficiencies or the concept of being senseless. Imagine having 4/5 or 3/5 of your senses like a Helen Keller where you can’t see or hear but you can touch, smell, or feel things. Many of us have a sense issue. We don’t have the pennies, quarters, nickels or the dimes but we have the dollars. We think that because we’re not huntering and gathering that we don’t need sense for survival and ability to be wise as a serpent and innocent as a dove.?
Yet, sense can be synonymous with judgment or perception. “I think or feel that this person is lying to me.” “I don’t feel they’re a good friend for my son or daughter.” “I don’t feel we should be apart of this opportunity anymore.”
“One who wanders from the way of good sense will rest in the assembly of the dead.”
— Proverbs 21:16
“Gullible is written on the ceiling.” I vividly remember being naive enough to believe this when my siblings would play me on this. I lacked sense, a common thing when you’re under 13 years old. But it wasn’t true. What else was I believing that wasn’t true at that age? What about you??
“Oh, you don’t have sense…,” “You ain’t going to that part of town because in that PART of town if you in so much as look at someone of the opposite race there you will get dirty looks back and a flash of a firearm…” “Oh you didn’t know the layout of the land… the layout of the culture there.” “Uh oh!” So, get around someone with common sense with more sense than you to educate you. To show you and teach you things.?
“Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.”
— Proverbs 16:22
Imagine if you had no sense of direction and you got lost everywhere so now east is west and north is south. You’d think you’re going to Denver but you’re really on the way to Colorado Springs.?
““Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks sense she says, “Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.””
— Proverbs 9:4-6
Those who have an ease about a route may have sense that affirms whether or not they’re going the right way.?
We’d botch opportunities with our nouns in people, places or things because we have no sense. We didn’t know we had to act that* professional around these people. We didn’t know French etiquette so we offended the French or something.?
“He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.”
— Proverbs 6:32
Sin carries a cost. Not understanding things = a lack of sense on a situation.?
Those who make decisions based on feeling make it on sense. But you could be forgetting the dollars by forgetting the rationalization of facts required to balance a decision based on sensory or emotions. Your feelings and your senses can lie to you. That’s why a combination of logic and emotion is important. Logic: "My personal life will implode if I have an affair.” That will help you get past the adultery Proverb mentioned here.?
The Vineyard of a Man Lacking Sense
?“I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.”
— Proverbs 24:30-34
-He clearly didn’t see what everyone else was seeing… I mean, the harvest wasn’t there. The moat/wall or protections were gone much like the future food harvested is protection from famine. So, concluding disaster upon this individual is incoming means, “Eek!”
-Someone else’s situation taught Solomon, the author, sense… “I looked, and received instruction.” So, “It taught me what not to do, it taught me what to do. That person who manages money well or there assets well taught me many things as to what to do and the guy who had a bad harvest with a poorly managed plot of land taught me not to be lazy and that I needed to hustle to achieve something.”?
-Some of us look at someone’s situation and are jealous but we don’t understand what occurred behind the scenes for them to achieve what they achieved. We lack sense as to what they really went through. Others of us don’t understand why someone is lazy or lacking in competence for many other reasons other than work ethic.?
-Some of us don’t take away the insights and sense from other people’s stories and life events as we should. We didn’t steward the interaction well. We didn’t pay attention to the sense needed.?
-Yes, someone can give you sense indirectly or directly. “Talk some sense into you.”?
-Those who have no sense don’t know about a heaven or a hell, Scripture alludes to that (Sheol detailed in Proverbs 9:16). They don’t work hard or they do but it’s not enough for a harvest.?
-If you think about sense, your own survival hinges on your sensibility. The Bible even proves that your financial life hinges on sense (oh, we wanna buy a house, so we can’t and definitely should not sleep during the harvest or we won’t have anything to sell).?
-What if people’s financial troubles are due to a blinding of sense as to what they’re not doing in their reality as if they don’t know they need to work hard and smart and strategic to obtain the financial future they so desire?
Nonetheless, sense should lead to an understanding of a situation! “I hear him calling my name based on my sense of hearing,” so now I either need to respond or not respond based on the tone and demeanor.?
“Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.”
— Proverbs 12:11
The more Proverbs and wisdom from the Word that I know and can wield end up being recalled to my memory and appropriately applied based on my situational context. I call this situational wisdom based on your ability to apply what you’ve already read and know. This is dangerous. An example would be a financial decision that could lead me into debt and recalling a Proverb about financial entanglements based in Proverbs 6 about pleading to the one you are indebted to:
“My son, if you have put up?security for your neighbor,?have?given your pledge for a stranger, if you are?snared in the words of your mouth, caught in the words of your mouth, then do this, my son, and save yourself, for you have come into the hand of your neighbor: go, hasten,?and?plead urgently with your neighbor.”
Three Kinds of Sense
Who has a sense issue??
Maybe you over make decisions based on what you hear or feel and not based on rationality and fact. We don’t see clearly so now we need eye glasses or contact lens. Maybe we need a hearing aid. Mozart used to feel the vibrations of his piano for sense. A loss in one sense meant the reliance in greater ways on others.
Maybe you don’t have sense but others do… so you need to acknowledge their sense over your own deficiencies. A couple that has one person blind and the other person deaf has a sense issue that requires them to rely on one another in a greater way. Acknowledgement of your own incapabilities and limitations is actually the sense of self awareness. However, saying it's not going to limit you based on your responses is belief in what you can do.?

No true acknowledgement as to what truth is leads to a lack of sense. But what is Truth, right??
Sense Issues - Bad Sense or No Cents (/=/$.25, $.05, $.10)
Those with sense issues that are blind or devoid of hearing have sense issues and are disadvantaged relative to all of us. I look at wisdom and the issue of sense in the same way. Again, it’s the difference between someone getting shot in the opposite part of town that you don’t wanna go to because of a lack of sense and not getting shot elsewhere because of what you knew or didn’t.
How many of us would shift beliefs if we knew what we didn’t know but wished we did back then because we know now? That’s called sense. Call a counselor or find someone more wise than you and get sense because you are severely disadvantaged. They didn’t know about all the in-grown hairs and identity issues that still remain and bodily acceptance changes that go with attempting to change your sex. They didn’t know about all the surgeries required to even do it. They sensed they were of the opposite sex and changed it. It’s a sense issue with regards to gender issues, and is lacking in rationality regarding the changing of sexes.
Think about if your nervous system was skewed and everything. Those with pinched nerves can’t feel anything.?
“My son, do not lose sight of these— keep sound wisdom and discretion,”
— Proverbs 3:21
Don’t lose your “sight”, “keep sound” are my key words of realization regarding senses in that you need sight to analyze and see your own wisdom, sight and hearing to increase the wisdom you possess, and sight to see your own digression of wisdom due to time or what you got entangled with as, yes, you can wander away from good sense. “One who wanders from the way of good sense will rest in the assembly of the dead.” — Proverbs 21:16
Discipline for Sense
“On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks sense.”
— Proverbs 10:13
Your 10 year old son who stole the money out of your wallet and lacked the sense between right and wrong and got away with it because you didn’t discipline him! Where’s the rod??
No, no, what the hell are you doing thinking that what you’re doing is actually wise… the rod is needed to discipline somebody with no sense or who lacks it. No, they need to realize how their sense of direction is skewed and north is not leading you north.?
So, we discipline them! We show them their sense or perceived common sense led them astray. We take away certain things, we shame, or we chastise them.?
It’s “the-dog-pooped-in-the-house-even-though-it-needs-to-be-potty-trained” so we got the newspaper out and hit the behind of the dog to scold it!?
Sense Phrases
Common sense. Everyone typically has 5 senses they’re born with, right? It’s common sense to dress up during a job interview. It’s common sense to use oven mitts to take something out of the oven. It’s common sense to fill up your car full of gas before it hits empty. Unfortunately, common sense appears to be not so common anymore: Kids think they’re trees or cats or of being of the opposite sex based on their own senses!?
“This makes sense” it clicks. It’s an “aha” moment. “I get it.” “I understand it.”
It’s time to “talk some sense” into you because you don’t have any. WWE or Rocky Balboa would say “knock some sense into them,” right??
"I need $.55 cents.”
But I hate the fact that I always need cents when I buy a cup of coffee and wanna pay with cash… in a cashless society. Yes, we are moving to a cashless society where everything requires you to buy or sell with a card or, in the future, with a chip… without any more cents. If you can’t sense what is happening I think you are blinded and you may not possess the level of sense or wisdom needed to truly guide you to truth. You have no sense of the spiritual direction society is taking towards operation 666 and the mark of the beast. Revelation 13:16-18 says, “Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,?to be marked on the right hand or the forehead,?so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is,?the name of the beast or?the number of its name.?This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number?of a man, and his number is 666.” So, you have no sense and your spiritual survival hinges upon your acknowledgement that you need sense to discern what is going on. I mean do you know where you are headed? Do you understand what is going on? Do you not see the chip is required in the future and how we’re quickly moving to a control based society that the system can control every transaction? No sense means folly which means Sheol, or hell. Scripture is very clear here in Proverbs 9: ““Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” And to him who lacks sense she says, “Stolen water is sweet, and?bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” But he does not know?that the dead?are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.” Those without sense get played on as they’ve been led to steal and have been deceived to continue sinning. They’re gullible, they don’t realize what is going on. Moreover, they don’t realize how they’re being misled or influenced by somebody else before it’s too late. They lack sense and, thus, Scripture alludes to how they’ll end up in a place where their senses are in eternal fire in Sheol, another word for the underworld or hell. Those with understanding must make sense of the singularity as to how they interpret biblical prophecy as biblical prophecy continues to unfold and unveil itself at a rapid pace.?
“A false sense.” It’s inaccurate.?
“You’re being insensitive.” All because he or she lacked sense to respect someone’s feelings as to how actions or words would make you feel such a way.?
“Nonsense” = unintelligible speech. It’s a bunch of HOOPLA! Yes, you can talk and it makes no sense which means your words and use of them yielded no sense of understanding.?
A good sense of humor: “man that guy is hilarious.” Wow.?
Other Things
“Spidy senses:” Your ability to sense something as on or off based on your discernment abilities or skills. I talk about this in this discernment article here:
Sonar senses: a system for detection of sounds and objects under water based on senses. Allegedly, dolphins can use it to detect under water mines.?
The reality of a black shirt is that it is black and in actuality it is black but you believe based on your reality that it is blue or brown. This means you lack the sense as to what reality really is in that the shirt is actually black. So, either you’re color blind or delusional.?
Faith comes by hearing… which is a sense.?
Mental illness is a betrayal of your senses and ability to see what is what.?
Your 5 senses are just supposed to speak to and confirm the reality of life around you.?
Perspective: The perspective of what wasn’t in your life or what was. What is separating you from peace inwardly is understanding and a shift in your perspective from what plagues you… Thus, you would have less suffering in your mind if you betrayed it and/or released it. It’s a shift in vantage points.?
Proverbs 19:11 says that, “Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.” Folly is the epitome of a lack of good sense. So, those with good sense regarding contexts that could make someone without good sense angry allows them to realize that they need to down play things that are not big at all. These micro offenses aren’t enough to build a fight on. There is a need moving forward to overlook offense.
Lastly, if you didn’t have sense, would life really exist? Think about that. If you couldn’t see, touch, feel, or taste or smell anything wouldn’t you be a sponge or something? Your existence and reality would seize to exist as the sophisticated creature you really are. So goes with it spiritual sense as to where you and others are heading.?
Overall, what is fundamental is the need for sense in this hour. Those who must have sense are those in leadership, those running companies, those teaching children or people of any degree. No sense means you can mislead or guide based on your perspective that you have sense when in reality, you have bad sense. We need to understand people’s sensibility to understand how they’re going to lead people because people can be easily misled.?
