Seniors Are Famous

Seniors Are Famous

What do you like most about your job? I know what I like about mine!

My career has introduced me to some fascinating people. As a talk show producer, I collaborated with Shirley Temple Black, Debbie Reynolds, Marian Ross, Shelley Long, Captain Kangaroo, Bob Hope, among others. As a public relations professional, I engaged with sports teams, renowned artists, wine sommeliers, and chefs like Ina Garten.

My experiences with famous people always spark the most interest at parties, but the people who have kept my interest over the years are older Minnesotans and their adult children.

I’ve had the privilege of interviewing some incredible people in senior communities and hospice care. I've spoken with an Army colonel who fought in World War II, a priest who left Ukraine to find a new life in Minneapolis, chaplains whose words and loving-kindness bless elderly people every day, and a man who dedicated his adult life to caring for people at the end of their lives.

Seniors have amazing stories to tell—stories of sacrifice, heroism, dedication, and triumph. They are famous, as are their adult children, who are committed to caring for, loving, and supporting them, often without recognition, like their parents, while raising them.

What I like most about my job is meeting older people, their kids, and professional caregivers in senior communities. I enjoy interviewing and honoring them by writing their stories for websites, blogs, newsletters, and fundraising. I'm also focused on writing support materials for adult children who are supporting elderly parents.

If you’re responsible for promoting a senior community, we should talk. Please message me or find me at editbeinc.com.
