Senior Quantity Surveyor - Permanent Role - North Lancashire Office - Waste water projects - NEC form of contract – Up to £65,000 + package
My client provides a full range of civil engineering, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services for both clean water and water treatment projects. They are currently working on projects within the AMP framework and are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join and lead these projects.
As a senior member of the highly respected commercial team, you will be expected to lead by example with a tenacious and detailed approach. You will be commercially responsible for projects up to £5 million in value. These projects will be wastewater treatment plants - the civil engineering and M&E elements of each project.
- Commercially responsible for several wastewater projects.
- Ensure the full and proper implementation of the company procedures.
- Preparation or assessment of applications, valuations, cost/value reconciliation
- Cost control and forecasting. Prepare and provide input to monthly reports: value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow and budget
- Preparation and agreement of applications for payment or the assessment & preparation of payment certificates
- Assisting with Risk and Value Management to optimise solution. Monitor and regularly review with the project team. Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
- To co-operate with, report to and implement the reasonable directives of the Senior Commercial Manager
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations in the UK
- To ensure in consultation with the project team that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner so as to protect the companys position in its trading activities.
- Performing Value management and cost control.
- Prepare accurate draft sub-contracts and/or to approve such drafts as prepared by subordinates to the level of responsibility delegated by the individuals supervisors.
- Arranging payments and valuing completed work.
- To assist the project team in the administration of sub-contractor performance so as to ensure the economic and timely completion of all sub-contractor liabilities written into sub-contracts.
- Record and analyse the impact of variations/design cost control/value engineering.
- Participate and advise on programme/delay issues arising from change/variations and to prepare claims for extensions of time.
- To prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts.
- Participate or lead in Project Meetings.
- To participate in dispute avoidance or alternatively resolution.
- Ensure the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter.
- Strong client facing and negotiating skills
- Experience in clean / waste water infrastructure projects
- Experience in working on M&E civil engineering projects
- Experience of civil engineering, infrastructure related projects
- Experience in risk identification and its management
- A good level of IT literacy (MS Office suite of projects)
- You should have experience managing all contractual aspects of a project and working with different Forms of Contract in particular NEC contracts.
