We are investing in the management and leadership structure for Simcox Construction to keep pace with our substantial turnover growth over the last 3 years. This role is also aimed at keeping pace with the growing technical complexity of our projects.

The Simcox Construction team has a very strong name and reputation built up over its 37-year history through our highly skilled and engaged team, and family culture. It has been a successful part of the Isaac Group now for over three years and several of the Isaac Christchurch based staff have enjoyed relocation to Blenheim and the Simcox team. The Simcox team currently has a General Manager and Operations Manager, a Business Support/HSE Manager, two Project Managers, three very capable Project Engineers and two Graduate Engineers. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager comfortable with tendering and delivering contracts up to $20M. This Senior Project Manager role would also support our Operations Manager and General Manager in working on the business with improved culture, processes, innovations, investments, and business development.

?The Role

This role will be at Simcox Construction and reports to the General Manager. From time to time, we secure work in the Nelson, Tasman and Kaikoura Districts with some requirement for Project Managers to drive in/out or stay away for short to medium periods of time, whichever is the best strategy in each case. An ability to be flexible with securing and managing projects across the top of the South Island is desirable.

The main focus of this role will be to lead and manage tenders and projects across Marlborough. A significant part of this Senior role is that the successful candidate must also help mentor and guide our Project Engineers and Graduates with strong NZS 3910 and commercial understanding and coaching at times.

Responsibilities will include

• Day-to-day leadership and management of civil construction projects and tenders
• Coaching & mentoring of less experienced project management staff, and responsibility of downstream staff
• Managing clients, subcontractor, and supplier relationships
• Providing estimating and/or project management support to other staff

Key Skills & Experience ?

• A diploma or degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering, or a related field is a requirement
• Proven experience with estimating and project management in the Civil Industry. Simcox specific areas of strength are flood protection, roading, 3 waters and services, earthworks, quarrying, trucking, and traffic management. But we also leverage the surfacing strengths of our Christchurch team and the pre-casting and structures strengths of our Greymouth team on projects in the Marlborough region run by Simcox.
• Surveying experience would be an advantage but is not required
• Experienced on Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Project
• Experience managing and leading staff
• A good knowledge of modern estimating and construction management practices including project work in progress adjustments
• Strong knowledge and experience of running NZS3910 contracts
• A collaborative, ambitious, motivated and honest character and mind-set. Able to work as part of a wider team with strong communication skills to deliver company goals and maintain a really strong team culture at Simcox.
