If Senior Living Was A Football Team Part 1: Defense Wins Championships

If Senior Living Was A Football Team Part 1: Defense Wins Championships

We are 6 days away from the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. The Super Bowl draws millions of viewers, generates billions in revenue, and overall is an American cultural phenomenon unlike anything else. This got me thinking about what if a Senior Living community had to step on the field during such a momentous game. Who would play where and how would everyone fit together to field a championship caliber team. Well, here is my guess as how that would go starting with defense. Part two will feature the offense.

Edge Rusher: Director of Culinary

Myles Garrett - Cleveland Browns

A difference maker in any championship team is someone who can rush the QB and disrupt the operations of the offense to get them off schedule. This position is rare and a difference maker. So, when looking for a difference maker I had to look no farther than the Director of Culinary. Food is such an important part in a thriving senior living community and can be the difference maker in securing a deposit, maintaining a high occupancy, and lots of smiling faces inside your community. Not every community has a difference maker in the culinary department so when you find one you better keep them.

Defensive Tackle: Business Office Manager

Chris Jones - Kansas City Chiefs

The first line of defense both on the football field and in a senior living community starts in the middle. Your community business office manager keeps things in check, identifies items slipping through the cracks, and can be an emotional leader for the community. You want someone strong, stout, and willing to put themselves on the line in the middle which is the exact same thing you want in a strong business office manager.

Linebacker: Regional Support

Brian Urlacher - Chicago Bears

?Linebackers are typically built up of the following traits. Leaders, flexible, difference makers, and quick to respond. These are all qualities you look for in a strong regional support role for your communities. These athletes are off the ball ready to attack problems when they burst through the line. The same can easily be said for our regional support team handling multiple communities and fixing problems as they come through. At times they can make a splash play or create a huge turnover that changes the trajectory of the community but, they are always steadily defensing the middle of the field ready to pounce on anything that comes their way.

Cornerback: Care Staff

Deion Sanders - Atlanta Falcons

A strong corner has range and confidence like no one else on the field. Are their times that their confidence gets in the way, and they overextend themselves sure but, you can’t win the game without them patrolling the field and blocking out offensive strikes. The same can be said about our care staff. They are strong, lean, and can shut down any state or outside complaint that comes at your community with haste. The key to this position is offering them adequate support cause if they’re left on an island, you could set them up to get burned.

Safety: Families

Ed Reed - Baltimore Ravens

The last line of defense and a player that can intercept any attack when given the chance. You want this player to be educated, communicates well, and has a nose for the football (the resident). Our families are our last line of defense whenever someone tries to make a play with the football. They prove time and time again they can provide tremendous support to your defense, advocate for your community, and intercept problems before they even come up like resident behaviors. Your care staff thanks you for having a strong family network and so does their loved ones.

In part two we will dive into the offense and how senior living can start putting some points on the board for the big game. Stay tuned and Happy Selling!

Happy Monday! Love the creativity in combining #seniorliving with football. ?? Remember, Vince Lombardi once said - Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence. Looking forward to part two! ?? #inspiration #excellence

Yes!!! I love the analogy and it is spot on Anthony Ormsbee-Hale. What I love most is you didn’t start with the stereotypical main positions that get all the attention such as the QB, RB and WR! It is the defense we most often under look. The unglamorous, but most vital and true definition of the strength of a team.
