Semmes | Mobile Co AL Business Social
Semmes is a small city in Mobile county, Alabama. With a population of just under 5,500 residents, Semmes is the 123rd largest community in Alabama.
Semmes is a great place to raise a family with its great public schools and the families that support them, low crime rates, and owner-occupied single family homes. Many families already live here, making it easy to socialize and develop a sense of community.
Semmes does not have a public transit system to get to and from work, buy groceries, or take the kids to their doctor's appointment, if you don't have a car. Regardless of the means by which you commute around town, Semmes is notable in that residents have a average commute to work than most places, with a commute time from home to work for those of us who live here is about 15 to 30 minutes on average.
The average rental price in Semmes is about $1525 a month, while the average rental cost here is less expensive than over 67 percent of other communities in Alabama.
The residents of Semmes have a lower percentage of college educated resident at just over 20 percent of adults having at least a bachelor's degree. Compare that to the average community in America, which has just under 22 percent with a bachelor's degree or higher. Of course, these days when you get a higher education it comes with a lot of debt! So, if you're someone who falls into this scenario, consider your options long before thinking about purchasing a home, and even before the ink is dry on your student loan note!
There are two measures for understanding income: the average and the extremes. While a neighborhood may be relatively wealthy overall, it is equally important to understand the rate of people - particularly children - who are living at or below the federal poverty line, which is extremely low income.
The per capita income in Semmes last reported was just over $35,000, which is an upper income in Alabama. This equates to an annual income of a little over $140,000 for a family of four, while twelve percent of the children that live here, do so below the federal poverty line. We can always do better, and that begins with a good education!
Median real estate price in Semmes is as low as $163,000 in one neighborhood and as high as $297,000 in the most expensive.

4 个月Thanks for taking the time to read my post; I hope it inspires you to connect if you haven't already! I'd like to share with you a little about business, life, and fun here on the third coast - if you don't mind? The Redneck Riviera began in the Florida panhandle cities of Panama City & PCB. Also called LA... Lower Alabama, but more affectionately known as the "Redneck Riviera". A strip of surf and sand that stretches some 95-miles along Florida's Hwy 98, with the most beautiful sugar white beaches in the world. But, as time moves on, boundaries change, and the Redneck Riviera has as well; extending deep into Mississippi, and boot toe of Louisiana's Florida Parishes. Follow my page and see if a visit; business engagement; or perhaps a total relocation is right for you or your business. If you live, work, or play here already, please share in the comments what makes the 3rd Coast great for you. Corrections and especially local updates are always appreciated, and will be used to improve this post.
