The Semiconductor Industry Hiring Boom!

The Semiconductor Industry Hiring Boom!

The United States Government along with leading Semiconductor companies have prioritized the effort to bring advanced chip manufacturing capabilities here to the US.?Hundreds of billions of dollars will be invested by both private sector and public entities to make this happen.?

The US has determined a domestic ability to develop high-tech semiconductor chips is critical to our national security and the health of our economy.??This massive effort has already begun and is expected to create 100,000+ new jobs.?The industry will grow from $150B to $400B in the next five years alone.?

A significant focus and concern for all involved is understanding where the workforce will come from (Technicians, Engineers, Software Developers, Management, etc.)?The current workforce in this space is relatively small compared to what will be required.?Upskilling, retooling, and continuing education will be needed.?However, many of the traditional avenues will take too long and require risk on behalf of employers and future employees alike.??

Hire-Train-Deploy - The Solution

Hire-Train-Deploy (HTD) is the next evolutionary step in solving the demand challenges for a new high-tech workforce at scale.?HTD allows employers to de-risk hiring, reduce costs, and hire talent specifically trained in the unique environment they’ll be working in.?

As importantly the HTD model accelerates the entry into a new career for people with strong foundation skills.?People accepted into an HTD environment receive pay during training, have all training paid for and experience a clear onramp to great long-term employers.?

The next 5+ years are going to be exciting for the Semiconductor Industry and the tens of thousands of new jobs created!

The CHIPS Act

In July 2022, Congress passed the CHIPS Act to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research.? This will help fortify the economy, national security, and reinforce America’s chip supply chains.? The total share of advanced chip manufacturing in the U.S. has shrunk to 12% due to other countries aggressively investing in the capability.? The CHIPS will help turn the tide.

On April 25, 2024 Micron received $6.1B in CHIPS funding for investment in domestic leading-edge memory manufacturing and the CHIPS Act will continue to deliver an additional $39B in manufacturing incentives.? The goal is for by the end of this decade America to be producing 20% of all leading-edge chips.
