Semiconductor Construction News roundup June 2024
Wow, what a fantastic response to last months roundup. Thank you to everyone for the feedback and suggestions. I've kept the format and added a few categories. Hopefully this works for everyone.
What a month June turned out to be with another series of announcements in our industry. Just days after the may edition, NXP announced a JV with Vanguard for the construction of a new 300mm Fab in Singapore, Zoho submitted a request for approval for a new Fab in India and Toshiba opened its new facility in Japan.
Global wafers in Texas is moving strongly along and has been joined by the announcement of approved funding for a 300mm Plant in Italy. Infineon (also in Texas) announcing a retrofit of their existing facility to meet updated sustainability targets.
We had some not so good news with the delay in the Intel Fab in Israel and the push of the Wolfspeed facility in Germany but overall the trajectory for the industry is still in the upward direction.
I'd be remiss not to mention that my visit this week to the Intel Ohio site was amazing. The development of the New Albany Technology Park and the progress on the site itself is a sight to behold.
So, here is a selection of some of the most interesting articles for the Semicon Construction industry. Remember, only read the one's you are interested in and if you have any that you wish to share, send them to me and I will pass them on. #wearefabbuilders
Safety in Construction is not always about PPE.
A big focus this month on Construction Safety, specifically Mental Health so I have included some great initiatives by Arcadis and Bechtel, that should be shared with others.
Construction is tough both Physically and Mentally. While significant strides have been made to improve the Physical Safety aspects, the mental health solutions have been slow to materialise. Thankfully, this is changing. Here's are some breakthrough initiatives being provided by members of our Community.
Latest Project announcements & Projects you might not know about!
A lot of attention is based on the big six but there are a lot of others out there! We can't forget that the Semiconductor IDM's are made up of a diverse number of companies. Some of these may have have slipped by your feeds.

We need to drive our industry to net zero and the AEC Semicon industry has a key responsibility in this area.
In this section we will highlight the challenges and opportunities in the industry.
Finally, some other Semiconductor Construction news:
And then there are other interesting bits, from Dan Doan of Intel talking about Innovation and Saudi Aribia making a move into semiconductors. Here's a collection of some industry articles directly related to Semicon construction.
In Summary:
Again, Short and sweet but hopefully interesting and informative. Lets keep sharing news from around the globe. Subscribe to the newsletter or if you have something to share that will improved our industry, send it to me and I will share. Till next month, #wearefabbuilders.
