Experience has taught us that a valuable skill in entrepreneurship and business is the ability to sell. Selling is simply exchanging a form of value for another. In your case, it could be a product for money, service for money, or other permutations possible.

Why are sales essential? It is essential because it is what generates the most desirable return for engaging in business, profit.

Before starting out as an entrepreneur, it may be beneficial to spend time learning how to sell. There are many books that talk about selling. Also, several videos online on YouTube can teach you how to sell. Yet, nothing teaches selling as much as selling itself. You should learn to sell by selling; not merely going at it without a strategy, but a strategy itself becomes useless without going at it.

Dear entrepreneur, after reading that book and watching that video go ahead and do some practicals. Have some experience that will shape your abilities and competence in what is arguably the most valuable skill you need to succeed in your endeavour. How to learn to sell has not changed for the past decade or even millennia. Here are some simple steps that you can apply.

1. Get quality information: You can do this by attending seminars, reading books, and watching videos from experts who have proven track records on selling. 2. Get the right resources to implement the knowledge: If you are going to be selling online, you will require a device like a smartphone or PC, internet data, social media handles where needed and possibly landing pages.

3. Set indicators to measure your progress: This could be the amount of money spent to make a sale, or the number of sales made from a particular amount of money spent. With these metrics, you can measure, modify and can quantifiably tell when your skills are improving.

As much as selling is essential, many who claim to be interested in business have found it rather difficult and disturbing. It is the difficult thing that you must do to grow. Make that sale today and grow your business.
